Is my donation tax deductible?
Only donations made to approved Institutions of a Public Character (IPCs) or the Singapore Government qualify for tax deductions, and not all registered charities have IPC status. At MTFA, donations to Darul Ihsan Orphanages are tax deductible. Eligible cash and qualifying donations receive a 250% tax deduction, extended to 31 December 2029. This means every qualifying dollar you give is deducted 2.5 times from your taxable income.
Claiming is simple. Provide your NRIC or FIN (or UEN for companies) when you donate to Darul Ihsan Orphanages, and we will submit your donation record to IRAS. The deduction is added to your tax assessment automatically, so there is no receipt to keep or submit. Donate by 31 December for your gift to count towards next year's tax assessment.
Please note that donations to other MTFA programmes, items donated from our wishlist, zakat and donations that come with a benefit in return, such as lucky draws, are not tax deductible. You can check any charity's IPC status on the Charity Portal, and find the full rules on the IRAS website.
